"MURDER IN
PHILLY!"
The Scene ~ An upstairs chamber of "Dependence Hall"
When ~ On a stormy summer's night, 4 July, 1776
Our Victim ~ Town Crier, Thaddeus Bell
So what happened?
Contrary to what our history books tell us, the colonists did not leave England to gain freedom…no, not by a long shot. They left their homeland to gain spacious new territories, listen to jazz, and enjoy fast food. However, they did not expect the numerous and unfortunate encounters with the Native Americans. Hence, the colonists needed the support of the British Army. No way did they ever want independence! In fact, they even held a tea party in Boston to honor King George and to present their "Declaration of Dependence". This document begged for more British intervention and rule. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was a little tougher than expected. The "Declaration of Dependence" revealed an emotional plea for more taxes, more stern governors, and the security of the British Army.
How did King George react to this declaration? Well, Georgie had a declaration of his own...A Declaration of War! It seems that his Highness was fed up with the "American Leaches" as he referred to the colonials, and wanted to sever all ties and leave the squirming parasites to fend for themselves.
Tell us more! Now getting down to business - Thaddeus Bell, Philadelphia's Official Town Crier, was to spread the news of the King's intention of war...war is the key word here, for it seems that Thaddeus never got the opportunity to ring his bell. Poor Thaddeus' body was found in bed by a rather shaken upstairs maid. The cause of death has not yet been determined...but an odd observation was that every hair on his body was gone! Yes gone!...and an arrow was found in his left thigh. Ouch! So, what went on here? Who killed our dedicated bell ringer?...and how?
So come join the Washingtons, Eggs Benedict Arnold, Ben Franklin, Paul Reverse, The Adulteress Featherbed, King George, Libby T. Bell, Tabitha Spellbound, and Rock "The Widow Maker", just to name a few of your fellow partiers and get ready for an evening of mayhem, masquerade and, of course,
MURDER!
