FILE 004 · Case dossier

Dead Calm

Dunmore-on-Sea, Devon · 1971

"A planning dispute, a quiet harbour, and a blackmail no one reported."

The scene, before you arrive

Dunmore-on-Sea is the sort of harbour town where nothing happens twice, because it barely happens once. Gulls. Diesel. A noticeboard pinned with minutes from the planning committee. But quiet towns keep quiet books, and someone here has been paying for silence while someone else collected, and neither of them ever said a word to the police. The water sits flat as glass, the only thing in town with nothing to hide.

That is all the file will tell you. The rest arrives on the night, one piece of evidence at a time, and nobody at your table will see the whole of it until the end.
