A first-floor flat above a bookshop, in the last fortnight before the liberation, with the shutters closed in daylight and the wireless kept low. Six people who have trusted each other for a year are about to find out whether that was ever wise. Somebody in these rooms has been in touch with the other side, and by morning it will not be possible to leave quietly.
That is as much as the file will give you. The rest comes out on the night, one piece of evidence at a time, and the room will be well into the evening before the shape of it shows.
